Here are the pilgrims' data Jan-Aug. 2007 of those pilgrims who were awarded the Compostela:

Walkers 70,890;  bicycle riders 14,721;  on horseback  374; by wheelchair 40.

 

Motivated by solely by religious purposes,  33,761;  by religious/spiritual reasons 45,352;  by cultural motives  6,912.

 

Following the French Way (including the “Aragonese” route)  68,773;  the Portuguese Way 6,314;  the Northern Way 4,732;  the Via de la Plata  3,204; the Primitive Way 1,894; the English Way 859 and various other qualifying routes, 249.

 

Pilgrims from Spain 43,602.

The rest came from forty-two different countries.

 

 

Again, these data reflect only those pilgrims who did receive the Compostela.  It has been estimated that the number of pilgrims on the Camino are from three to five times those who receive the Compostela.
