Rosina gives a lovely description of an awesome place.
It truly is breathtaking.
Pilgrim be warned, however: If you are on foot, you´ll
have to be a hearty hiker indeed to make a visit there
and move along to the next albergue in the same day. I
tried that in June. It´s a 8K hike up the mountain
alongside a twisty switchback road, then a 5K plummet
down a very poorly-marked trail to get back down. And
after that, another 14K to Arres. It just about killed
me, even though I did hitch a ride from the foot of
the mountain back to the main pilgrim path. (My first
time ever hitchhiking, but it was pouring rain...)
There are smarter ways of combining the hike with the
monastery visit, but most involve a taxi cab, or a
stay at one or another four-star hotels, with prices
up in the same altitude as the monastery.

Just so you know.
