This past May I arrived at Eunate about 9am. Another pilgrim was there
and the warden of the albergue opened the church for us. It was
another of those special moments for me, just sitting there for a half
hour, that caused tears to flow from my eyes. A few days later, in
Lograno, a stranger came up to me in a bar and said that he too was a
pilgrim. He told me of his special experience at Eunate. We wondered
why the octagonal church apparently had sides of different lengths, and
the significance of the different shaped pillars around the church.
Does anyone know about this? He also met a man and his wife there.
The man had terminal cancer, and told him that there was a legend that
if one would walk barefooted around the church walls a certain number
of times, he would be healed. Did anyone of you ever hear of that
legend?
