Hello you all,
Herman Koch, an Austrian pilgrim in his fifties, and Danuta Gotrwald, a German pilgrim in her forties, got married at the Corticela chapel of the Santiago Cathedral two days ago.
The couple met in 2002 as bicycle pilgrims to Santiago.  Last year they bicycled from France to Burgos where they became engaged.
A month ago they walked from Burgos to Lavacolla where they stopped to prepare for their wedding. They arrived in Santiago separately and met in front of the Cathedral, in Obradoiro, after the bride had changed her pilgrim shorts, boots and t-shirt for a beaded, long, white wedding gown and the groom his pilgrim clothes for a suit.  They ascended the Cathedral stairs using their walking sticks which they kept through the wedding ceremony.  The wedding Mass, celebrated in German, Latin and Spanish . at 6:00 p.m., was attended by their relatives and many German and other pilgrims that the couple had met in the Camino. Champagne toasts and a shower of roses greeted the couple when they emerged from the Cathedral.
They will spend their honeymoon in Santiago and, yes, they will make the pilgrimage again next year.
The pictures of the wedding published in La Voz show a very beautiful bride and a happy groom.
Ultreia!

Rosina
