Saint James of mine,

Dear patron of Iberia.

Saint James of mine,

You, protector of all pilgrims who always guided my steps and illuminated our Camino.

You who have watched over us for more than one thousand years,

We, who departed from our homes responding to the heart-need to go to Compostela

and hug your image

and kneel in prayer before your tomb.

In this difficult time in which we must rise to struggle to preserve the Camino, we ask your guidance,

Not so much in the physical Camino itself, but in our actions so that we may defend the Caminos of Santiago, 

precious patrimony of all humanity,

so that future generations may be able to respond to the soul-call to go and hug your image.
