Hello you all,
The Botafumeiro went aloft successfully three times today.
It looks as though the trials have been entirely satisfactory and the heretofore problems have been taken well in hand.
Sr. Raposo, the chief of the tiraboleiros, explained that the new rope is rather stiff and it is difficult to make the necessary knots. The synthetic rope is heavier than the previous ones (90 kgms.) and the maneuvering has had to be altered to allow for the lesser weight of the Botafumeiro (60 kgms.) in such a manner that it will be the Botafumeiro that will guide the rope and not the other way around.
Mr. Raposo informs that about two meters of the new rope have been cut because it kept stretching.? Over the last week or so, a heavy piece of concrete was attached to the rope and left hanging over night mto be found resting on the floor in the morning.
Because of this, instead of taking the Botafumeiro off, as usual, to be stored in the sacristy, it will be left attached to the rope and will be closely watched to trim whatever further stretching may occur.

For those of you who asked:? the word "tiraboleiro" reportedly derives from the Latin work "thuribulum" which means "smoke thrower, more or less.

All's well than end well.? I'm very happy!
