Agree completely.   For those who want a "diploma" of their  achievement or a 
souvenir from an official body, it does matter. 
 
However, the Church enjoys control over the credential to the point of  
antagonizing those pilgrims who do not wish to bow to their dictums.   Organized 
religions delight in mind control. 
 
This is why so many profess adherence falsely or have turned away from the  
Church rather than make a false statement.
