[Gocamino] Children on the Camino

As a mother of two young boys - ages 7 and 3 - I am very interested in this topic. Does anyone have advice or resources for people considering this journey with children? Or perhaps it is possible to do a non-true-to-the-Camino "research trip" that plans for a true Camino experience several years later when they are older? Please respond as I am really wrestling with this call to do the Camino from Tour Saint Jacques in Paris all the way to Santiago del Compostela, but can't imagine being away from my children for so long.

Hello you all,
Today's edition of "El Correo Gallego" carries the following: (translated)

" The Anonymous Society of Plan Xacobeo themes maintains collaboration agreements with groups, and entities, in NorthAmerica to encourage and promote the Xacobean tradition in the United States. One of those links is maintained with the medieval scholar, George Greenie, editor of the "American Pilgrim" magazine, a publication that connects the pilgrims of the United States an allows them to relate their Camino de Santiago pilgrimage experiences."

Is this the publication from the San Francisco Society of American Pilgrims on the Camino? (Kat.... where are you?)

Regards,

Rosina

Yes! While some of the board members live in California, others live
across the US. George Greenia, an esteemed member and editor of the
American Pilgrim magazine, is also a co-chair for the next and tenth annual
Gathering to take place in Williamsburg, VA, March 9th and 10th, 2007.
There will be a hospitalero training beforehand, also in Williamsburg...I
believe the 6th and 7th.

George has taken several groups of his students at William and Mary College
on pilgrimage and is well known in the Pilgrim Office in Santiago.

The CSJ in the UK have asked this question. Can anyone help with a reply?

Do you know/have you heard of complaints that small children with
credencials have been refused a compostela? One of our members carried his 2
year old most of the way (for 9 weeks) and the child was refused because he
had not chosen to do the pilgrimage and could not articulate his thoughts
and feelings. I should be interested to know what the experience of others
has been?

With all due respect, being a mother of three who 'once were two years old'
I would have to be totally insane to do Camino with a two year old.
