Several articles in the January 2005 (volume 77, number 1) issue of the Geographical Magazine a popular publication of the Royal Geographical Society of London-one of the oldest and most august of scientific organizations-are on Camino topics. On p. 74 begins a small collection of late 19th and early 20th century photos of the pilgrimage route and Santiago itself selected from the Society's immense archive. Then on p. 94 there is an illustrated article "The road to Santiago: Ted Lamb follows a centuries-old path through the Pyrenees on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain" discussing the route. Finally, on p. 100 in that same issue there is an article on the Auvergne in France, a region one passes through on the Le Puy route.

Another recent publication of interest is a brief description of a pilgrimage from Le Puy:

Finlay, Dan. "The Pilgrim Mind," National Catholic Reporter (Kansas City). volume 41 Issue 24, April 15 2005, pp. 6B, 7B.

Good university libraries and larger public libraries should subscribe to the print versions of the periodicals or to their online editions. With a little searching at a library that has a set of subscriptions to online services, both articles can be read on the Internet.
