Hi Tom, hi everybody,
The nationalities compiled by the Pilgrims´Office are those which the pilgrim her/himself declares when first obtaining the credential. When the pilgrim shows up to request a Compostela s/he is asked, again, her/his nationality, and the answer is compared to the first statement before it is recorded for data compilation purposes.
No... no passport need be shown. The word of one completing the pilgrimage "Pietatis Causa" is absolutely to be trusted.
And,...Yes, Letonia is Latvia; consequently, there were 6 Latvian pilgrims.

The Basque-sought political separation is absorbing everybody´s attention, perhaps because the ETA fanatics who have sought it for so long have killed about 1,000 other Spaniards in their pursuit.

Not nice.

On the other hand, if they do secede they may blaze a trail... Then, New York State can secede from the Union, and later New York city can secede from the state. If so, we´ll elect Bill Clinton president for life of the New York City Republic and we will all live happily ever-after.

I wish!

Tomorrow I am going to see the Fathers Cebrian to say goodbye, and I, for one, haven´t thought of any other item of pilgrim information to suggest. Has any of you?

Big hug!

Rosina
