[Gocamino] The weight of boots

I just received the preview edition of Backpacker magazine and noticed a quick tip:

"Research show that every pound on you feet feels like 6.4 pounds in your pack." Their tip: "Switch to low-cut hiking shoes or trail runners and you'll save 10 to 15 pounds."

Does this sound believable? They didn't say where the "research" was done. I'm just thinking about my 3.5 pound size 14's and the weight they might have contributed to my Camino last spring.
