and dear Felissa has gone home to her maker...
there was a legend that she couldn't read but started that job when asked to
keep track of how many pilgrims walked by her stall on the narrow path to
Logrono....she would puit a pebble in a jar for each one and give count that
way.
i would nominate the hospitaleros from San Nicolas, the Italian
confraternity's refugio, but they change every week as I understand. Their
hospitality, prayers and foot washing was a real godsend on my first
camino....

Yes, Señora Felisa, rumored to be over 80, is the welcoming committee in
Logroño. She greets us with figs, cold water and love. She has her own
sello, and you can sign her guest book to send greetings to other
Peregrinos. She has shelves full of these guest books, archives from the
years of welcoming pilgrims. I also understand she cannot read. What a
beautiful woman. Part of our Camino.
