Hi Ann,
You have to walk the last 100 km towards Santiago to qualify for the
compostela.
So you have to walk from Sarria at the least.

As others have told you, Galicia is very beautiful, but the last 100 km
might be crowded with Spaniards. For them it is relatively easy to
obtain a compostela.
