I'll add that the opposite, i.e. mailing stuff back home, is equally
easy In general, I found the post office in Spain to be very helpful.
My wife and I mailed a number of things from Portomarin. Not a large
town, really, and we happened upon a postal clerk who hadn't mailed many
international packages. That, coupled with our sadly lacking language
skills made for a bit of light comedy. Still, when the postal
meter/computer misbehaved, her entire office got involved, eventually
calling another post office to clarify the procedure. It took a little
while in transit, but our package arrived home safely.
