Digital on the Camino

Well this is the newest trend!
What should I buy?
Some considerations:

Where do you go for?

*       Easy and simplicity
*       From and function
* Advanced option and pro quality

What do I like to have as a result?
*        5/7”print
*        8/10”print
*        11/14 “print

What do I photograph?
*        Friends and family
*        Sports and events
*        Scenery and building

Price range
*        $ 100-250
*        $250-500
*        $ 500 and more

Handling: should it fit in my pocket?

Are you a keen photographer or do you like to snap things away. Prices are
getting lower, but in any case do not go any lower in resolution as 3
million pixels (it will tell you in the details). Lower will print badly
just good to have a small print. If that satisfies you. There is a whole
range

If you’re a keen photographer know that the interfaces of setting a digital
camera up can be very complicated so get used to it BEFORE you leave your
home. Do I need flash card (not so much storage), smart cards (much better)
memory sticks (expensive) micro drive (kind of HD inside..Makes it bulkier
and more expensive Casio) or even a CD ( Sony Mavica).

There is really no definite answer to what you will need; very popular at
this moment are:
Canon Powershot A 80/Canon Digital Ixus400/Canon EOS 300D+ 18-55mm/Canon
powershot A70/Nikon D70+18-70 mm DX en Canon Powershot G5.

These are top-notch cameras

In the more than 4 million pixel range there are:

The Canon A80 and Ixus 400/ Minolta Dimage Z2/Olympus Camedia C-750UZ and
Camedia C-450
A funny 2 million pixel is the Fuji one: Q1

The best thing I can advise is either start with a simple inexpensive one or
see what you miss during your “works of art” and buy then one according to
your needs and preferences. Best before your Camino.

Or google along by the names I mentioned as by great makers as
Nikon/minolta/fuji/Olympus/Canon
And

Ask your friends it they have one and how they like it!

Sorry folks no definite answer apart from a good international socket
adaptor and 2 sets of high 2100 mha batteries and a heavy-duty charger. I’ve
found out that there is a lot of difference in it. I’ve three chargers and
only one works best. It charges batteries the others indicate they are done
with.

Happy Camino, happy photography

Pieter

PS Remember when and if you do your Camino let the photos be good! It’s your
only change then. I trust in you!
