Charles, Jane

A little late on these two threads, but I'd like to comment on both.

We have cycled from Pamplona to Santiago, 1996 and from Paris to
Santiago 2000. We stayed in small hotels and hostals along the way.
We were on road bikes following roads and unforunately only from time
to time along the walking route. In 2000 we luxuriated in three weeks
from St Jean PdeP to Santiago, stopping early, sightseeeing a great
deal, in '96 we went from Pamplona to Santiago in 13 days, too much of
a rush! . I could provide a copy of our journal for these trips to
anyone who is interested. . Please send any requests off list,
thanks.

Several times, we and another couple rented a car for a one-day trip
to a place off the route and which didn't seem to offer hospitable
biking. One such was the trip to Finisterre from Santiago.

During the 2000 trip we took a digital camera and brougt back about
750 pictures. We had a very tiny computer witrh us and downloaded
almost every day, the capacity of newer computer cards for digital
cameras would eliminate this need. Charging the camera is easy, you
can buy an inexpensive tranformer (rated at below 50 watts) that is
light weight and can be used together with the plug converter to
recharge at any outlet in Spain or France. Another option could
include a solar panel setup for charging on nice days as you walk or
ride.
