Good advice Pieter;
The Camino is not a switch you turn on and it starts long before one takes
the first step.
Preparation is the key, both physical and mental. Start walking with your
full pack on a regular basis as early as you can both uphill and down, find
out what is a reasonable distance for you to walk in a day, try different
shoes, walk on rainy days for you will encounter rain, walk on hot days for
the same reason and if possible include a week long hike with all your gear.
Most of your questions about the mechanics of the Camino will be answered.
Read all you can find on the journey, history of Spain, Spanish phrases,
maps and guides.
Look into you heart and become familiar with the reasons you are undertaking
a pilgrimage; there will be many.
Always have faith for you will never be walking alone.
Ultreia,
Bill
