Santiago riding down the waves

I think that the (apocryphal) legend says that as the boat with the remains
of Saint James was approaching the Galician shores, a groom was riding to his
own wedding in full regalia; when the husband-to-be's horse glimpsed the
(stone) boat on the waves carrying St. James remains from Palestine the horse
couldn't contain his pure-of-heart impulses and jumped into the water after the
stone boat, rider and all. Eventually, both horse and rider surfaced, all
covered with scallop and other shells....(hence the symbolic vieyra), but the
horse's rider wasn't Santiago; it was an incidental fellow on his way to his own
wedding waylaid by a very spiritual horse.
