Camino Portuguese

Suzanne and others interested in this route,

I did it as a seven day section in May of 2001, including a layover day
at Pontevedra. Actually I started that part from Valença, Portugal, on
the other side of the Minho river, since I had come up from Portugal.
The pilgrimage route through Galicia is well marked and has some
beautiful scenery. In my opinion, it beats the Camino Francés for
scenery, but the companionship of the other route is missing. I was
alone on road for the whole time. There were three refugios available at
that time: Tui, which I did not see. Pontevedra, which was brand new and
striking - it has its own art gallery. And Padrón, which is only a block
or so from the church housing the stone which is the reported landing
place for the saint's stone boat. There are also plenty of inexpensive
hostales in the towns along the way.

regards,

Bob Spenger
