where are the British?

Yes, New York is its own country! So is Miami. And Alabama, I think.

As for Anglicans not wanting Compostelas, Nay, I say. I'm Episcopalian -- the USA version of Anglican/Church of England, and I made sure I got mine. Meantime, I have every respect for my fellow Christians who are Catholic. I'm convinced God sees very little difference between us all.

As for the census: I'm sure the lack of Englishmen was simply a clerical error. I think at least every sixth person I met on the Camino Frances was from UK. Israel, along with most of "the Middle East" is on the Asian continent, along with Turkey, Russia, and India. The area so often called Asia is really just East Asia, aka "the Orient," only a part of the massive continent.

Sorta like we of the United States calling ourselves "Americans," when there are two entire continents of countries besides us who are, technically "Americans" too.

It's wonderful how the Camino attracts seekers from so far and wide, and after about 20 k of walking or riding, all the geographic borders and language barriers begin to blur.

There is hope for the world.
