Hello you all,
On the first of May 200 hundred pilgrims afflicted with mental illness left
Roncesvalles on their way to Santiago. They are expected to arrive at the
Cathedral on the 15th of this month.
Throughout the Camino these pilgrims are receiving assistance from doctors,
therapists, social workers, teachers, priests and nuns . Today they are in
Leon.
The group pilgrimage, made under the rubric "Camino de Santiago, Camino de
Rehabilitacion", was organized by Albacete's Association of Friends and
Relatives
of the Mentally Impaired.
It is hoped that the pilgrims will benefit from the stimuli of cognitive
activities, different surroundings, the physical exercise required by the Camino
and by social interchanges with other Camino pilgrims.
This is the first experiment of its kind in such large scale.
Regards,
Rosina
