Thanks for the tips for a newcomer

Sally,

Sorry I should have been clearer. To get the full Compostella you should have walked the whole of the last 100Km or cycled the last 200Km. There is also a 'non-religious' certificate you can have if you put down the reason for for your Camino was not spiritual - ie a vacation trip.

A lot of people 'jump' stages for various reasons or do the Camino over some years even - I know one guy who walked from Arles to Santiago in stages over 9 years.

I used to know a man who had a similar susceptibility to sunlight as you and could not wear even ordinary light cotton shirts, apparently they still let harmfully rays through (he had quite a problem but wasn't prepared to spend the rest of his life in a darkened room)so he bought special clothing. I can't remember if he ever said the name but I'm sure a dermatologist would have heard of this stuff.

regards

Jeffrey

Thanks for those tips. I hadn't really thought of starting further back
because I thought for your stamps you had to do a CONTINUOUS run. Can you
just do the minimum 100km at ANY point, even if it is broken up? Which would
mean I could start further back and see how I go? I feel that if I am well
enough for the trip by the autumn I would rather do my first attempt then,
than next year when things are bound to be hectic. Slow but sure wins the
race. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew!
Indeed I shall continue to research and learn in different ways before I
come (hopefully without spoiling my innocence). In fact I feel that in some
ways my pilgrimage has already begun. And I am not afraid of getting
"hooked" on the Camino, wanting to go back many times. Sounds like a nice
idea! I especially like the idea of doing more each year, which I have read
the Spanish often do. Which is why I thought of doing the nearest 100km
first and then working backwards. but I take the point about scenery and
eucalyptus trees!
Well, please keep the advice rolling! For instance, what is this
lightweight sunscreening clothing? I think my dermatologist would have me
check that out!
Thanks again
