Just confirmed with Recruiting in NYC...they do not take if any charges against a person. So people must not be telling truth.

  The alternative armed forces service that our NY judicial may system makes available  to acceptable, first-time offenders,  is done with the full knowledge and approval of the military people.  It couldn't possibly be  otherwise.  As I understand it, other states besides NY do the same.
