Belated Introduction

I am so sorry: I guess I read that I should introduce my self when I joined this forum about ... Mmm may be one year ago? but I dont remember. I have posted several times and read everything else everybody body has posted , among them, many introductions. I apologize for my my bad manners

My name is Lia Friedman, I am originally from Argentina and currently living in New Jersey. I planned to walk el Camino when I was about 19 years old (I am 27 now) and finally my husband and I are going to start on May 15th 2003 in Vezelay (or Clunny, still not completely sure) and we expect to arrive on Santiago around July 20th, before the Patron Santiago festivities. (July 15th) which are also very important in Mendoza the province where I come from, so important that nobody goes to school or work that day. Santiago is the "Patrono" of my province but for some reason I didn't made the link between our "patron Santiago": and Compostela until a couple weeks after I knew the story about Santiago de Compostela.

I wrote down in the book of things I would like to do in my life :pilgrimage to compostela" but it wasn't until I saw a pilgrim to santiago in Mount Saint Michel in 1998 that I felt urged to plan the trip.

Even when I am a psichologist (well, I'll be when I finish my thesis), I am very interested in anthropology and ethnology and I am going to specialize in migration and transcultural issues once I get my degree. I felt always very passionated for everything related to the Medieval Time and prechristian europe, from music to hystory and literature and the social, political and economical aspects.So, el Camino has become a sort of "cruzade" for me in a good sense. I am very happy I am going to meet some of my friends I haven't seen for the last 5 years and maybe make some new. We are also going to offer ourselves as volunteers in the efforts local people are making to clean the seashore after the Prestige oils spill. It breaks my heart to think that was something completely avoidable and so many animals and people are suffering as because of it.
