Camino passports and Shell symbol

I need to get 2 passports/credentials for the Camino.  I heard that I can get these through FRIENDS before we leave the USA.  If that is true, How do I go about ordering them?

Also, what do pilgrams wear as the symbol of the shell?  An actual shell? or a fabric print of one?  Can I purchase this in St Jeans Pied Du Port?  or from FRIENDS?
