Dear all,
There is the saying that one who does injustice to a pilgrim has to do all
over his/hers pilgrimage in order to be forgiven!

One rainy night when the wind blew a pilgrim went from door to door in a
Spanish village: lights were ablaze as it was late and it was Spanish
dinnertime. The pilgrim who walked all day was tired, covered with dirt and
at his wits end.
Whatever door he knocked on: it was always the same reply: NO, sorry!
So he imagined himself finding a stable or so as the rain was pouring down.
He came to the last house of the village, better said a hut. He knocked and
an elderly man opened the door.
He invited him in, as it was no weather to be out, certainly not for a
pilgrim
The couple excused themselves as not having much but ready to share whatever
they had.
So some bread was there and a piece of sausage: they weren't hungry they
told him and he should go to sleep soon in their bed as they could sleep on
the ground...a pilgrim should be rested.
And how much the pilgrim objected...
During that night, the storm grew to immense proportions and the small hut
shuddered under the wind and rain....

Next morning the pilgrim got up, but already the couple was on their feet
and gave him some bread.
The storm had cleared, a bird was singing outside, the skies were blue, but
it was eerie silent.

Then the pilgrim bade farewell, thanking his hosts for all they had done.
When the front door opened it was clear to what extend the storm had
raged...the whole village was destroyed, nit a single house was there
left...

It might even that that night the old couple gave hospitality either to St
James of Christ the Lord.
