Pilgrimages in Belgium

Apparently. The information comes from a conversation I had with a
cousin (in Antwerp) some years ago, during which I made some notes. The
notebook was put up and forgotten and the intervening years I went on a
pilgrimage myself to Santiago and became much more interested in
pilgrimages in general. I rediscovered my notebook with the entry that
she was a 'saint who walked 100 miles every year to a pilgrimage site
(in Belgium). The destination was not mentioned, even if my cousin knew
it. Unfortunately he and anyone who would have any information about
great grandmother's pilgrimages are long dead. I do know she went to
Lourdes several times before WWI and in fact was in Lourdes when the
Germans invaded Belgium in 1914. Forgive me for this family detour. If
you have any info I would be grateful, but I'll certainly try and find
your book. Your guide to the Camino de Santiago was very helpful when I
did my walk.

Jim: I've just returned from Belgium and elsewhere -- I visited 3 sites,
all important in the early 20th century. (and, sorry if i'm immodest,
-- Gitlitz & I have written about them in our 2-volume book, published
late last year: __Pilgrimage From the Ganges to Graceland: An
Encyclopedia__).

They are : Namur
Beaurraing
and
Bruges.

I'm at the university office right now and don't have the data in front
of me. If no one else has satisfied your curiosity, just let me know and
I'll give some data. So your grandmother walked? 100 kilometers from
Antwerp?
