Hello you all,
Lourient Vrignaud, a retired English teacher from Nantes, France, has
completed a pilgrimage from his hometown to Santiago walking mostly barefoot.
He only wore plastic sandals over particularly rocky sections of the Camino.
M. Vrignaud had walked the Camino in 1999 and resolved to do so again without
shoes, not as a penance but because of personal preference; he speaks three
languages (French, Spanish and English) and enjoyed greatly communicating
with other pilgrims. When he made the pilgrimage in 1999, a Jacobean Holy
Year, he was unable to find accommodation in the albergues. This year he
stayed in the albergues, an experience which he found most enjoyable and
invaluable.
M. Vrignaud avers that "Europe can be sensed in the Camino far more than
anywhere else", and expresses a particular predilection for Ponferrada (!) .
Regards,
Rosina
