`Last month 200 pilgrims received he Compostela; 184 walked and 16 went by
bicycle.
    15 pilgrims started out at SJPP, 16 at Roncesvalles, 17 at Tuy, 23 at
Samos, 25 at Sarria and the rest at more than 30 starting points, all more
than 100 kms. distant from Santiago.
    69 of the Compostela receipients were from Spain, 9 from Belgium, 8 from
Germany, 14 from France and the rest from 15 different countries including
Brasil, Austria and Italy.
    186 of the pilgrims declared a religious motive for doing the pilgrimage
and 14 a cultural motive.  52 of the pilgrims were women and 149 men.
    81% of the pilgrims followed the French Way (including the Aragonese
route), and the rest followed the Portuguese Waym the Silver Way (from
Seville) and the Way of the North in descending order.
    About half the pilgrims were under 30 years old and the rest were between
30 and 60 years old (8 were over 60 years of age).
    77 more pilgrims received the Compostela last month than in February of
2001 when only 123 did so.
