An excellent and formidable project. However, just like Zagat's or Michelin
on restaurants, I have a totally different opinion on many that we both
stayed at. I did not keep a record on each, but my recollection about the
quality & cleanliness of most is still pretty vivid.

In conclusion, I don't think that rating refugios is a worthwhile endeavor
because the overall experience of encountering pilgrims is more important to
me than opting not to stay in one or another. Certainly a better experience
than seeking a hotel or hostel alternative which many people who do not like
roughing it find themselves doing. As I said previously, most were clean and
acceptable and certainly worth the money and a good contribution when they
did not charge. Maybe I'm not all that fussy, but people count more than the
sleeping amenities for any one night. The next night's refugio may be better
if you are optimistic like me. Howard Mendes, NYC
