Raincoat vs. Poncho?

 For those of you who have traveled the camino in
Sept/October, do you have any thoughts about which is
most functional, a raincoat or a poncho?  I can list
the pros and cons for myself, but I wonder what
experience has taught the experienced.  I plan do to
the walk from Roncesvalles to, God willing,
Finisterre, leaving the beginning of September.
