Hi Bert,
Attached to the cathedral of Pamplona there is a museum that has a kiosk-like
entrance. You can have the credential stamped there. The museum is to the
left of the Cathedral's main entrance and you go in through a courtyard. Do
see the fascinating objects that they have there and the lovely cloisters.
The acoustics in the Cathedral are astounding. When the organ is played it
seems as though the music bursts forth from the very walls. Usually after
the midday Mass on Sundays there is an organ concert.
The Cathedral's acoustics have been, and are, greatly admired and studied.
Here in New York City since Avery Fisher Hall (formerly Philharmonic Hall)
was built in Lincoln Center in 1964, more than fifty million dollars have
been spent trying to improve its acoustics. Now it is reported that the
entire theater will be torn down and rebuilt with a view to improve them;
sound engineers have made trips to LaScala theater in Milano (now itself
closed for two years for restoration), the Pamplona Cathedral and other
theaters and churches in Europe in order to study the inter-dynamics of sound
and materials, distances, etc.,
Also, the Pamplona Cathedral has a remarkable choir. In fact, they toured
the United States recently and were much acclaimed when they appeared in New
York.
Warm regards,
Rosina
