San Juan de la Pena and the Holy Grail

Thanks, Preston, as always...

After my walking pilgrimage, my husband and I went to Sanguesa and San Juan
de la Pena by car. It was a most magical place and as I mentioned before,
the capitals on the columns which depict the life of Christ are also
considered alchemical symbols.

More importantly to this list, however, is how does one deviate from the
trail over Somoport to get to San Juan de la Pena...it is very steep by car
and must be excruciating on foot. On the very top, however, is a later
church (also in ruins) of San Juan de la Pena and a family park, with snack
stands and all!

Has anyone ever done it on foot?
