I traveled from July 20 through Aug 20 2001
I slept outside in a field twice - near a lot of cows, whose bells woke me up
in the night and instilling the fear of being trampled into my bones.
I felt safe to a certain extent, I was travelling with my son who was 22 at
the time.  I am not a fearful person in general, and truly felt more afraid
of the horses and cows than of humans.
THe weather was certainly warm enough to sleep without a tent - it was a bit
damp in the AM but as soon as we started walking we dried off and the morning
sun began to heat us up once more.
