You may want to look at the new 3M fabric that is supposed to be better than
gortex.  It has a soft finish and is more breathable than gortex.  Several
companies sell rain suits made from the material.  The ones that I am most
familiar are called Frog Togs, www.frogtogs.com .  They are light, the pants
have zippers in the legs so you don't have to remove your boots to put them on
and they come in a variety of colors.  Unfortunately, the material is not a
tear resistant as ripstop nylon but they should last for several years if you
don't walk through brush.  REI, www.rei.com , calls them O2 and has cycling
jackets listed in their catalog.  I'm sure I saw the entire rain suit last
month at the store.  We will certainly bring them if we do another Camino.
