hiking with a child

I only saw one person last may traveling with a child (actually two). She
was Dutch, I believe a marathon runner and she had two small children and
their gear in one of those three wheeled stroller things. I cannot tell you
how or if she got up the hills and mountains with that thing but she ran past
me outside of Santa Domingo one afternoon and that was the last I saw of her.
I never spoke with her but I do know that other people on this list or the
yahoo group Santiagobis did (can't remember which). The one night we stayed
in the same refugio was in Belorado and the hospiteros were a dutch couple
who accommodated her by putting some mattress on the floor. I had heard that
she was kicked out of the Logrono refugio at the 8am closing time and had to
pack her stuff on the street that morning. I mention this as you should not
expect a ready welcome everywhere. Additionally most refugio have bunk beds
and I would not describe them as either child safe or friendly. Although you
do not mention if you plan on using them. Anyway sorry I could not answer
you directly but maybe someone else will know more.
