Michael,

go to www.voyages-sncf.com the official French railway site where you'll
find details of times, trains and fares - you can even book on line! Click
on the little British flag to read the site in English.

WORD OF WARNING!

For anyone who has never travelled on French trains before, when you buy
your ticket it is undated, before boarding the train you must date stamp it
on the way to the platform. The French expression is "Il faut composter le
billet" or as a question "Ou faut-il composter mon billet".

If the inspector checks your ticket and it's not dated you get charged
twice the fare! If you don't stamp your ticket you could use it over and
over again.

The French have high ideals about keeping their language pure and unsullied
by foreign (ie English) expressions and to this end some stations don't
have the instructions in anything but French - you have been warned.

By the way I arrived in Biarritz at 3am, the station opens at about 5am.
first train to SJPP about 8.00am this kind of planning is not recommended
nor were the cockroaches in the station buffet!

Jeffrey
