Hello you all,
You can request maps, albergues, hostals, places to eat, etc. information,
in English, from the Xunta de Galicia
           www.xacobeo.es
The pamphlets are thin, illustrative, and very practical.
As per other guides, I read about twelve, in various languages, and would
recommend as the very best, bar none, Linda Davidson's book "The Pilgrimage
Road to Santiago". Yes, it is not small nor light, but some friends who
just finished the pilgrimage told me that they cut the book into various
sections and carried with them only the section that covered the stretch that
they were walking at the time, mailing the rest to themselves to "Lista de
Correos" (General Delivery) at the next significant town where they picked it
in stages. It may sound like going through some trouble, but most pilgrims
go to the post office a lot anyway, to mail purchases, or unneeded objects,
or whatever. Besides, the book is very much worth it.
Getting ready for next July I've already prepared and put one copy of the
book in a loose-leaf three-hole binder, and while doing so I began to make
notations of certain things of much interest to which I did not pay
sufficient attention before.
Regards,
Rosina
