St. Francis' pilgrimage

Hello,
A new biography of St. Francis of Assisi, by House, has just been published.
The advance notices claimed that the author had access to historical sources
heretofore unavailable and disclosed new information.
In the part of the work that covers the years 1212-1213 the author writes
that St. Francis sometimes would "disappear for weeks or months in Spain, in
the company of Bernard -some say- to join the millions of pilgrims who
crossed the north of Spain in their way to Santiago de Compostela".
The "some say" kind of bothers me. Does any one of you, respected Santiago
scholars, know of any book that refers to St. Francis' pilgrimage to Santiago
with more specificity?
Please let me know.
Thanks a lot,

Rosina
