I understand Terry's dilemma with receiving so many posts from GOCAMINO. But
if I may just add my opinion on this, I have to say I rather like the
communal feeling of the list and familial relationships that are forged.
I've also found that its easy to just delete the subjects that don't interest
me - though I'll be honest and say that happens very rarely.
After reading Linda's message I find that I too would like to read about
matters other than the "practical." Although once again, I realize I've been
guilty of asking some mundane questions. My apologies. However, let me say
that I really appreciate the more mundane threads as some have asked
questions that I hadn't thought of. I do empathize with those of you who
feel you have to wade through the cacophony of newbie voices. Further, I
don't know how much I can contribute re: the historical and aesthetic aspects
of the pilgrimage, but I would love to learn more. I've just begun Linda's
book and am seeing how rich a path this truly is. For example, I find I am
fascinated by the Templar associations. Additionally, I will soon be
entering a graduate program in religious studies and folklore, so any of the
mythology of the Way or its surrounding folklore would be a fantastic topic!
If I may reiterate that I, for one, truly enjoy hearing (reading) all of the
voices. If we limited (dare I say censored?) some of those voices I think
we may be depriving ourselves. That's just my opinion. I have every
intention of continuing on this list for quite some time regardless. I
cannot wait until I return and share my experiences with you.
With love,
Gabrielle
