Gabrielle, all the showers we experienced on the camino were private.
Sometimes, the shower area was unisex, but there was always a solid door for
privacy.  Truthfully, when it came time for a shower, I was generally much
more interested in the availability of hot water than privacy.  Your
priorities change on the camino.  I have no opinion about the material for
your hat although I will offer that I had to buy a hat along the way b/c I
started off with a baseball cap and the back of my ears got very sunburned,
so I needed to purchase a cap with a brim all around.  Best wishes.  Carolyn
