can't remember the names of the pensions where we stayed, we used the lonely
planet walking guide to spain and asked in tourist offices for the cheapest
pensions, no problem
i think the least we paid was about $15, the most $25 for two of us
we really liked them! just the privacy after a week or so "communal living"
(which I also enjoyed, but once in a while it got a bit old!)
yeah, plenty of places where you have to stay in the refugios. fwiw, we stayed
in pensions in Logrono, Burgos, Leon and Santiago. oh yes, and in triacastela
(rainy, rainy day...i think our room above the pub was actually cheaper than
the "alternative" (private) refugio).
I'm putting this on the santiago site in case anyone else is interested.
all the best, barryevans
