Hello you all,
This is a translation of the message which Pieter sent us in Spanish:
"Convent of St. Francis.
The convent is under the direction of Minoristas Conventuales. It was
founded by St. Francis of Assisi in 1223, it is believed that it housed
Franciscan (monks) until the early part of the Nineteenth Century. The
(religious) reparations of the Italian Risorgimento compelled the monks to
leave and they did not return to the convent until 1932.
While the church is Baroque in style the original medieval structures can
still be seen in the first of the two cloisters, which now contains an
interesting museum."
Pieter adds that this information comes from the "official" Sanguessa site.
Regards,
Rosina
