I have tried a couple of ways
Depending on where you start arriving at Madrid or PAris is good.

Basically Madrid if you are starting anywhere in Spain. Paris if you want to
start in St Jean PP
( you can fly into PAris. grab a TGV high speed train to Bayonne.Over-night there
then a short train or taxi ride to St Jean)
If you arrive in Paris you can still fly out of Madrid using an "open-jaw" plane
ticket
