An Introduction and A Question

How much it costs depends on how much you are willing to spend. The refugios
are quite inexpensive, usually asking for a donation (around $5, right?).
Cheap hostels can also be found, for maybe $30/night or less. Food also
ranges from inexpensive (coffee and a sweet roll at a bar for breakfast,
cheese and bread from the grocery store for lunch, etc.) to more expensive
(eating in restaurants). This gives you a lot of flexibility to create your
own experience depending on what you are able to spend and what you want to
pay.
Blessings on your Camino! And no, you don't have to be Catholic, or even
Christian, to have a profound pilgrimage experience, just as being Catholic
or Christian doesn't ensure that your pilgrimage experience will be profound.
