If I back out those other wording changes, the text now reads as

 	representation in the result format that is nearest in value,
 	subject to the current rounding direction mode, to what the result
 	would be given unlimited range and precision

I asked some non-English speakers to read the text with "given" and they 
did not extrapolate this. This is because the use of "given" really means

 	given the ability|capability to compute the result with

If I replaced "given" by what was discussed last meeting as"

 	if it was computed with

they understood totally. Hence, I believe the text should be

 	representation in the result format that is nearest in value,
 	subject to the current rounding direction mode, to what the result
 	would be if it was computed with unlimited range and precision
