[Cfp-interest 1911] propagation of NaN sign bit

       Hi,

there is currently a discussion on the MPFR list whether conversions
from MPFR numbers (mpfr_t) to C floating-point types (float, double,
long double, ...) should preserve the sign bit of NaNs. See the thread
starting at https://sympa.inria.fr/sympa/arc/mpfr/2021-02/msg00000.html.

Currently MPFR does not preserve the sign bit. Should we?

The question was raised to the IEEE 754 list, but maybe the CFG group
has some comment on this?
