We had an action item to review this.   I didn't see anything wrong,
although in the prior art, all the *pi and {log,exp}*{2,10}* functions
were implemented in Sun Solaris about 30 years ago.    I don't think the C
compiler optimizer knew anything special about them, but the Fortran compiler
recognized some opportunities to simplify expressions involving pow of
fixed bases and expressions involving exp... - 1 and log 1+...
