The idea of simply using CR_DECIMAL_DIG wasn’t feasible, because CR_DECIMAL_DIG is a Part 1 annex F feature, whereas several of the references to DECIMAL_DIG are in C11 and for general implementations. This document, for review at the February CFP teleconference, uses a different approach:
